Local 129 v. City of Brantford [2003] O.L.R.D. No. 4530 (Ontario Labour Relations Board)

Application for certification.  The parties disagreed about the geographic scope and number of employees in the bargaining unit on the date of application.  The local applied for employees of the Sanderson Centre in the City of Brantford.  The City said the geographic scope should be limited to its employees at the Centre.  The Board followed its practice of granting a municipal description.  After determining the appropriate number of employees in the bargaining unit, it found that not more than fifty per cent of the ballots cast were in favour of the local.  Accordingly, the Board dismissed the local’s the application.
