The teamsters’ local applied for standing and intervenor status in local 891’s application for certification of the Production in order to support local 891’s unfair labour practice complaint that the Production had committed an unfair labour practice by interfering with its organizing drive. The Board rejected the teamsters’ local’s applications for standing and intervenor status. Specifically, it held that the teamsters’ local could not be given standing because it did not have a direct and legally material interest in the legal issues raised by local 891’s application. It then held that the teamsters local could not be granted intervenor status because the issues raised were not of general interest to the labour relations community or that the teamsters local would provide a unique perspective that would assist the adjudication.
