IATSE Statement on the Collapse of U.S.-Canada Trade Talks

TORONTO – The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) issued the following statement from International Vice President & Director of Canadian Affairs John Lewis in support of the Government of Canada following the collapse of trade talks with the United States on Friday Aug. 21st:

The IATSE supports the decision of the Canadian Federal Government to walk away from the table and refuse to accept a deal that jeopardizes working families and weakens Canadian sovereignty.

We look forward to working with the Canadian Federal Government to ensure workers receive the needed income supports, EI flexibility and training.  We also reaffirm our commitment to support our distinct Canadian culture including the protection of the French language and Quebec Culture.
