Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, Canadian Affiliates, [2008] BCLRBD No. 179 (BC Labour Relations Board)

In the course of review of the film industry in British Columbia, the British Columbia Labour Relations Board issued a number of interim directions with respect to the current separate collective bargaining; requiring the BC Film Council, the UBCP (“the Actors”) and DGC-BC (“the Directors”) to identify common collective bargaining issues and co-ordinate bargaining with respect to those issues, provide each other with general updates on the progress of bargaining with respect to issues that are not common, consult with each other when a decision to conduct a strike vote is a real possibility and before a final decision to conduct a strike vote is made, continue the practice of common expiry dates for collective agreements in this round of bargaining, and establish “safe harbour” arrangements for productions commenced before a strike vote is conducted.
