Local 295 v. Casino Regina and PSAC [2003] S.L.R.B.D. No. 6 (Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board)

Local 295 applied for certification of casual light and sound technicians working at the Casino.  Although the PSAC had previously been certified to represent “all employees” by or in connection with the Casino, the local argued that the technical positions were beyond the scope of the PSAC’s certificate.  The local’s application was denied because it was not brought within the open period (during which new applications are allowed by the legislation).  The Board rejected the local’s argument as contrary to the plain wording of the PSAC’s “all employees” certification order.
