An agreement has been reached between the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts and IATSE Local 58. The agreement, which exceeds the Mayor of Toronto’s budgetary targets, ends a four-week lockout at the venue and was ratified by the Local 58 membership yesterday. A new agreement with the Sony Centre, another city-owned venue, was also ratified by the membership at yesterday’s meeting.
The new St. Lawrence Centre agreement saw the employer agreeing to an increase in rates, with the local agreeing to reduce the number of guaranteed weeks of employment. Both parties are satisfied that an equitable agreement was reached.
