IATSE Resolutions Passed at Quebec’s Federation of Labour Convention

Two important resolutions which were brought forward by IATSE Quebec Locals 56, 514, 523 and 667 were overwhelmingly passed during the recent Convention of the Fédération des travailleurs et travailleuses du Québec (FTQ) in Montreal.

The first resolution deals with copyright reform and calls for strong legislation to protect and create jobs for our members in Quebec, as well as bringing about awareness concerning the destructive effects of copyright infringement and piracy.  The second resolution deals with the use of unionized workers and calls for the use of unionized audiovisual, lighting and camera technicians wherever FTQ affiliates can insist upon them for meetings, conventions and other similar activities requiring such services.
IATSE locals in other jurisdictions are encouraged to submit similar resolutions during their regional labour federation conventions.  The resolutions have been translated into English and are available upon request from the Canadian Office.

The IATSE is also pleased with the reelection of Michel Arsenault as President of the FTQ.  Under his leadership, the FTQ has been very supportive of the IATSE’s campaign to represent motion picture workers in Quebec.
