The I.A.T.S.E. is pleased to announce that after a hiatus of almost six years, the members of I.A.T.S.E. Local 118 returned to The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts to work on the yellow card touring production of The Full Monty.
The Centre was previously known as the Ford Theatre, and was owned and operated by Livent. It seats 1800 people, and has been an exciting addition to the Vancouver theatrical landscape since it opened in the early nineties. The Centre went dark in 1998 when Livent filed for bankruptcy and re-opened in 2002 under new ownership.
An agreement with the producers of The Full Monty was reached on August 26, 2003. Negotiating the agreement on behalf of Local 118 were John Lewis, Director of Canadian Affairs and Sean McGuire, International Representative. While the agreement covers only The Full Monty production at this time, the Centre and Local 118 intend to use it as the basis for a long-term agreement to cover all future stage work.
