On January 23, 2003, Local 262 in Montréal filed for certification of Vision Global A.R. Ltd., which is the second-largest post-production facility in the province of Quebec. The employer attempted to avoid certification by launching a number of unsuccessful legal challenges. Local 262 rebuffed each and every challenge and, in June, was certified as the bargaining agent by the Quebec Labour Relations Board. This marks a significant victory for the IATSE, as it is the first post-production facility to be certified by the Alliance in Quebec.
The International provided assistance to Local 262 during the organizing campaign and will also participate in the upcoming negotiations.
The IATSE is an International Union that represents members employed in the stage craft, motion picture and television production, and trade show industries throughout the United States, its Territories and Canada.
