Winnipeg, MB – On September 8, 2005, IATSE Local 63, with assistance from the International, signed a first agreement with Q1 Production Technologies Inc. Local 63 certified Q1 under the Manitoba Labour Relations Act in 2003. The one-year agreement covers all employees and contract technicians, and includes a separate schedule for any preparation work with theatrical shows .
Located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Q1 specializes in technical support to the theatre, film, concert, corporate and special event industries by supplying lighting, drapery & rigging, staging, roof systems and audio. Q1 was also the successful bidder for lighting for the world premiere of The Lord of the Rings, scheduled to open in Toronto in 2006.
