PMCI v. CUPE local 15 and IATSE local 118 [2000] B.C.L.R.D. No. 398 (BC Labour Relations Board)

PMCI applied for an order to restrict picketing by CUPE members at and near the loading and stage doors of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre during a strike by CUPE local 15 against the City of Vancouver.  PMCI requested the order on the basis that it had reason to believe that IATSE members would refuse to cross the CUPE picket line thus preventing the unload and stage of its production “Chicago”.  Local 118 participated in the hearing as an intervenor.  The Board granted PMCI an order restricting the CUPE local to picketing the front door of the theatre, thus protecting PMCI from the effects of the CUPE’s labour dispute with the City without imposing a complete prohibition against picketing at the theatre site.
